Country Escape – Flackley Ash Hotel

Country Escape – Flackley Ash Hotel

One of the things I love most is getting away, even if it is just for the night, staying in a hotel is the highest form of luxury for me, and I love finding cute little country escapes to recharge my batteries, like this beauty near Rye, Flackley Ash Hotel. There’s something refreshing about recharging your batteries, even if it is just for 24-hours, and whilst we are in the middle of a house move we don’t exactly have two weeks to spare to jet off to paradise.

So when you’ve only got 24-hours what do you look for? For me, I want somewhere comfortable to curl up, and this charming Georgian country house hotel has the cosiest of lounges that you can just snuggle into the leather sofas, and then when you are in your room the four-poster bed is a perfect little luxury retreat, and I can totally see this hotel coming into its own in the winter as it has the best fireplaces to snuggle up next to with a drink or two.

I also want something a little more boutique and different and I love that all the bedrooms at the Flackley Ash Hotel are individually styled, and with only 45 rooms it means that it won’t be crazy busy and noisy, which is something I hate about larger hotels. But don’t let the size fool you, there is still loads to love about this hotel, especially the 40ft indoor pool and spa facilities, which I’m sad to say I checked out but we didn’t quite have the time to enjoy, but I think a return trip might be needed for a massage and facial once we’ve moved.

The other highlight had to be the gardens, Flackley Ash Hotel is set in 5 acres and there are lots of cute spots to share a secret kiss or two, as well as the restaurant and bar area, I can fully recommend the afternoon tea, it was so yummy I totally forgot to take pictures, I know bad blogger. I also noticed when we were leaving that the Sunday lunch also looked amazing and it was packed, which is always a good sign, I was just sad we couldn’t stay longer to enjoy it for ourselves.

The hotel is also perfectly located minutes away from Rye and the East Sussex coastline, including the amazing sandy beach at Camber Sands, and the slightly further afield seaside towns of Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea. There’s also a host of amazing National Trust properties, castles and plenty of places to just go for a walk. If you are short on time, I can’t recommend Rye enough, this is a very instagrammable port town with its period buildings, cobbled streets and incredible interior and antique shops.

Also, if you are a dog owner you can take your lovely pooch away with you as the hotel has some ground floor garden rooms with private patios that would be perfect. I just wish we had known as we left Falcon with the lovely guys at the kennels.

What do you look for in a country escape? Would you like to stay at Flackley Ash Hotel?
