Poker Face singer Lady Gaga has been named creative director – not of a fashion house – but of Polaroid. Yep the camera people. Random but true and when you think about it I actually think it works.
Announced this week Gaga has been named creative director for a speciality line of Polaroid imaging products. Yep I am not sure what that means either but hey excited to see what she comes up with especially after reading this quote on the press release.
“I am so proud to announce my new partnership with Polaroid as the creative director and inventor of specialty projects. The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation–blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era–and we are excited to collaborate on these ventures with the Polaroid brand. Lifestyle, music, art, fashion: I am so excited to extend myself behind the scenes as a designer, and to as my father puts it–finally, have a real job.”
2009 really was an amazing year for Gaga with her debut album, The Fame, selling more than eight million copies, and more than 35 million singles, making her music’s biggest breakout star of the last decade. She is the only artist since the inception of monitored radio airplay to claim five #1 hits from a debut album, with Just Dance, Poker Face, LoveGame and Paparazzi.
God knows what Gaga will create but I am sure when out later this year they will be a great success.
