Red or Dead designer Wayne Hemingway is among a number of celebs who have teamed up with charity ActionAid and devised snappy and thought-provoking slogans for its PoverTee Day.
Joining him with slogans like, ‘Education + Love = Hope’, ‘I Have a Right to Write…’ and ‘Go Wild For A Child’ are X Factor singer Alexandra Burke, actress Karen David and model and designer Jasmine Guinness; as well as hairdresser Nicky Clarke, actresses Miranda Richardson and Karen David. Each has produced their own t-shirt which will be auctioned off to raise money for ActionAid’s PoverTee Day on June 18. Bid for your favourite here.

This is a charity which I’ve been aware of since I was little when my mum sponsored various girls in Africa through the scheme. I remember seeing letters and photos from them over the years, on them doing well at school, providing their families and generally grateful at the support. This nationwide fundraiser is aiming to get the country together to do two simple things: wear a t-shirt and donate money to the charity. In return ActionAid will use the money raised to fight poverty and provide an education for some of the 72 million children across the world who do not attend school.
