This week I had the pleasure of attending British designer Lee Klabin’s spring/summer 2011 couture launch party this week and what an affair it was. The whimsical event took place at The Horse Hospital in the centre of London, new venue to me but was perfect for the occasion, with its stone floors, concrete walls, and a slight chill in the air, as it really added to the drama of what was to come.
While taking in the surrounds, and the gorgeous couture gowns suspended from the ceiling, I enjoyed champagne *well apple juice in my case* from a vintage tea set, and nibbled on ginger cake, flying saucers and candy mice – so perfect.
The collection entitled Doll House was accompanied by a short film made by Perry Curties, revealing the dark alter egos of the Dolls, with a haunting and eerie take on a Victorian dollhouse, while showing off the gorgeous pieces of the collection.
My favourite dress had to be ‘Bohme’, the collection’s finale dress embellished with screws, nuts and bolts, I also loved this body which would look amazing in a future Lady Gaga video.
I must admit I didn’t know much about Lee before I attended this party, of course when the invite dropped through the door I googled and saw the amazing creations from past collections, but nothing could prepare me for how amazing it would be to see such stunning couture gowns up close. I can’t wait to attend Lee’s LFW ready-to-wear show which is entitled Forbidden Forest – sounds amazing!!
Check out the amazing video below of the collection.
