I am not one normally for comics, I leave that to my other half and his love of Marvel, I do however appreciate something a little different and this biography comic on Barbie’s creator Ruth Handler is definitely one to pick up.
It seems fitting that with Barbie being on of the greatest ‘female forces’ of the last century, that her creator Ruth Handler becomes the latest subject in Bluewater Productions Female Force comic series. Following on from other great female icons who have shaped modern history and culture, including Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Betty White and Harry Potter writer JK Rowling. It is kind of surprising Barbie hasn’t featured sooner.
The comic launches in March, and tells the story of how America’s favorite fashion doll emerged from the seedy underworld of German sex symbols and cigarette shop gag gifts to become one of history’s most iconic women.
