What I love about press days is stumbling across new designers or items that I truely love, but may never have dropped into my life, and then I get to share them with everyone. Well Alexandra Mann is just one of those designers. I met the lovely Alex at Canoe’s press day this week, and I was blown away by her quirky prints and easy-going attitude.
As well as loving her custom-made make-up and wash bags, I completely adored her, so passionate about fashion, excited by her recent mention in Vogue and she has such incredible personal style *so wish I had snapped a piccie of her on the day – so gorgeous*.
Alex is a costume designer-by-day and has previously worked for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, before deciding to created these gorgeous wash/make-up bags, which are all handmade from fabrics that Alex sources *or rescues as I like to think*. I loved when I asked what sort of places she goes to for her fabrics she said “the shops which have the worst windows”, and I can totally appreciate that vision as I love those types of fabric shops, they’ve always got such treasures in.
I love the fact that each bag has it own personality, there is literaly something for everyone, whether you like an animal print, skulls, or a retro-vintage vibe, seriously you have to check out Alex’s online store, with prices starting at £30 these make great gifts, or jazz up any suitcase or weekend bag, or why not work it as a clutch.
Alex is developing the line, which I am so pleased about and has introduced some leather bags, with funky lining for more of a clutch feel, as well as developing her own prints – so look out for Alexandra Mann styled skulls and leopard print in the future.
I think the one I may have to treat myself is this beauty: Hawaiian girls large wash bag, £40, gorgeous printed wax cotton with plastic tartan lining from recycled market bags, so cool.
