As soon I stepped into the Wallis autumn/winter 2011 press day all I could think was how cool their ode to Barbie was with the mannequins. I know they probably were going for a glamorous 70s vibe, but come on how much do these models look like my new SuperStar Barbie??
Fun over, back to the collection, I was so surprised as I have to admit I don’t shop in Wallis but seeing the amazing pieces I will definitely be checking it out.
There were three themes running through the autumn/winter collection: 60s Modernity with its architecturally tailored pieces; Babington House a quintessentially English collection with a nod to the 1970s, with its autumnal colour clashes and retro glamour; and Gorgeous Gothic, which is Wallis’ homage to Alexander McQueen with leather and chiffon fabrication coming together to create dramatic pieces.
This vibrant orange coat is one of my favourite pieces I have seen during the autumn/winter 2011 press days. I love the scoop neckline and the chunky buttons, it really is a statement piece.
I am so glad that pleats are continuing into autumn, this berry coloured high-neck maxi, very chic look.
