I know Breakfast at Tiffany’s is probably everyone’s favourite Audrey Hepburn film, but for me it has to be the comic thriller Charade from 1963. Not only does it have Cary Grant (the only film he did with Audrey), it is also set in Paris, and it has the most wonderful selection of autumnal style.
Audrey is always very chic but in Charade each style is dreamy, and with great emphasis on simple streamlined tailored coats, which I completely adore. One of Reggie’s (Audrey’s character) first looks is this grey-beige wool Givenchy coat. I love its 60s chic with the large button and collared detailing, and the matching hat is simply divine.
I loved for her scene following Cary Grant’s character that Audrey turned to the classic trench coat, very stereotypical private eye attire; I love her chic approach to it with leather gloves and a head scarf.
Underneath that trench coach is another Givenchy piece this time a stunning white wool dress, with a bateau neckline and a black waistband. I love this dress so much.
For her stroll along the River Seine, oh how it reminds me of when I was in Paris this time last year, I love her red two-piece and that gorgeous white Pill Box Hat. I am not sure if many people could pull this look off but I think she looks adorable.
My favourite outfit happens to be another Givenchy design, for the famous chase scene through Paris Metro and the Palais Royale, Audrey is seen in this gorgeous mustard knee-length coat with large fabric covered buttons in contrasting black. I love how it is teamed perfectly with black accessories for ultimate chic! It also has a matching dress underneath, which can be seen in the official poster at the top.
Her final look of the film is this exquisite navy suit teamed with black shoes and handbag, and the white Pill Box hat from before and white gloves. Perfect look to end such a fashionable film.
This film really is sixties style at its very best, I love all the ladylike handbags, the gorgeous big sunglasses, the chic tailoring, and most of all the simplicity of each look.
