This week I was invited by Cocosa to a fashion illustration class with illustrator extraordinary *and very patient teacher*, Clym Everden. It didn’t take me long to accept as I have always wanted to learn how to do fashion illustration for ages, and when I knew that fab bloggers including Anastasia and Duck, Cocos Tea Party, The Very Simon G, and the always adorable A Girl, A Style, were going then it was a quick “yes please”.
It was a lovely intimate class, with about 15 of us all staring at the lovely model Paul striking a pose in the fab Martini Library at The Arch in London. The two-hour class was amazing and I can’t believe how much I enjoyed myself * I was super nervous before hand*, and I also can’t believe how well my drawings came out.
Here my early attempts using pastels as well as crayons *not crayola more like a pencil*, it is all about the angles apparently, and I think I didn’t do too badly.
Here are my finally two drawings, as you can see hands and feet not my thing, but at least it resembles a man!!!
Here is a selection of everyone’s favourite drawing, I just love how different they all are, but after two-hours tuition I think we all did really well.
Also in the corner was a selection of Clym’s work, where his illustrations have been added to t-shirts and totes, and he also did these amazing business cards hand-drawn specially for our class.
Can I have legs, shoes and a handbag like this please?
I have to be quick to add a disclaimer, I am not one of the bloggers who had been to art or fashion college, I can’t draw but I did give it my best shot and I am quite happy with the results. I do think I will keep on trying to draw the perfect model, especially as it was quite therapeutic drawing with pastels.
