On Thursday night I went to most amazing private view to see the Superdoll Collectables couture show, Social Monstrosities. I love Barbies and all dolls really so I was so excited to see these gorgeous tall 17″ resin beauties up close, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
The Sybarites, which all are complete with ball joints allowing 19-points of articulation, were all positioned around the most amazing glass table. All provocatively placed on miniature gold chairs, some leaning over the table, others checking out their hair in their cute mirrors, but all looking absolutely stunning in their exquisite couture outfits, and a special mention has to go to those Alexander McQueen-inspired heels.
Each one of the Sybarites has been made from a single clone, I know strange right that they used the exact same doll, Clone 0777, but with all the styling and amazing hair each one has a different personality for me. I have to admit it was hard to choose my favourite, but I think I have to go for this one below, everything from her Armani-inspired structured couture gown to her floaty clock and amazing regal hair and striking red lippy, she instantly stood out for me.
I sadly didn’t get the best pictures, it was crazy busy as you can expect everyone wanted to get close to the beauties, and I also didn’t get to chat to the designers Charles Fegen and Desmond Lingard. But I had an amazing time and felt extremely lucky to get such great access to these beauties and being allowed to snap them. Obviously I took more than I have posted here, over 100 actually, I will be adding them to my Facebook page.
The exhibition at Blackall Studios runs until October 23.
