One of my favourite Barbie ranges has to be the ‘I Can Be…’ better known as Career Barbie. Over the year’s my favourite doll has been everything from a teacher, to a police officer, a veterinarian, a nurse and even an astronaut, seriously there is nothing that my plastic pal can’t do. There have been a number of fashion careers in the course of her 50+ years including being a fashion editor in 1960, a dress designer in 1985, and in 2009 she was even a fashion magazine intern.
Well it seems that 2012 is the year of the catwalk for Barbie as she is becoming a fashion designer.
The ‘I Can Be…A Fashion Designer’ doll comes complete with with her own scissors, measuring tape, pincushion, sketchpad and as a modern designer she also has an iPad. How adorable is she with a pencil in her hair – I can’t wait to add her to my collection.
Here are some of my favourites that I wish were part of my collection: the Fire fighter from 1995; in 2009 Barbie worked the Equestrian look – I think Katie Price stole her outfit for her own line; 1986 was a Madonna-inspired Rockstar; when everyone was going into space Barbie didn’t want to be left out so in 1965 she became an Astronaut; but my absolute favourite has to be the Pan-Am inspired Flight Attendant from 1961 – she even has wings – LOVE!!!
Which career would you like to see? I am thinking Blogger Barbie, or how about a Miss Golden Globe Barbie – that escorts the award winners off at the ceremony!!!
