Sorry for the delay in my final round-up of London Fashion Week, I kind of got distracted with life, but here are my highlights of my day four and five – from dinosaurs at Sophie Hulme, my best front row I saw this season at Pringle, and crazy slogans at Ashish.
Day 4:
First stop was the Sophie Hulme presentation, where I was greeted by toy dinosaurs, fairisle jumpers, a gorgeous selection of bags including a boxy tote that I am in love with. What was nice is that this is Sophie’s biggest collection-to-date and it was fabulous and it had an exquisite luxe feel with its various textures including mohair, cashmere and goat skin. Also every season each purchase comes with a different charm, for autumn/winter 2012 it is a brass dinosaur, which also replicated as the invitation that I got after fashion week.
After Sophie Hulme I literally hot-footed it over to see Pringle of Scotland, which I was so excited about as it was my first time I was invited to the show, and I am so glad I made it as it was my first sighting of Olivia Palermo all fashion week and I was literally metres away from the gorgeous Rose Byrne. A full review is coming for Pringle, I promise, but it had a Clueless-90s charm about it that I adored.
From Pringle to the Topshop venue for another first, not only my first time this season at the Topshop venue, which overlooks the Thames, but also my first ever Michael Van Der Ham show and I was looking forward to seeing his unique approach to fabric clash for autumn/winter. This season it felt like there was more eveningwear and red carpet pieces, and maybe that was because Michael Van Der Ham was inspired by Veronica Lake, the Ziegfried Follies and 1930’s knits and glamour. Clashing fabrics were presents with textured Jacquard organza, hammered silk, metallic boucle and cashmere, which looked gorgeous in bright colours mixed in nicely with an old Hollywood feel with the gold and metallics.
I reckon we will see a lot of this collection on celebrities, especially all the side-split skirts that revealed contrasting flashes of mint and navy, as well as all the ornate jewel-encrusted bodices – gorgeous collection I loved it.

To finish off my Monday I headed over to the Handpicked Media suite at One Aldwych to see the Ted Baker team who brought over an edit version of their fab spring/summer 2012 collection, which I loved the first time when I saw it come down the runway at their away day. What was nice other than checking out the collection, munching on some I Love Ted pop-cakes, the view from the suite, had to be that this was the perfect place to relax between shows.
Day 5:
First stop of my final day at London Fashion Week was queen of the Art Deco graphic prints Holly Fulton, I loved this show last season and her collections keep on getting better and better. Lots of pink as you would expect, mixed in with some blues, lots of sparkle, graphic prints, furry bags and lots of intricate detailing. It was also nice that I was sat in a row with my favourite blogger pals so as well as a great collection it was brilliant company to enjoy it with.
I have to admit I have a love hate relationship with Ashish, don’t get me wrong ever since his collaboration with Topshop, I have loved his slogans, but I just know that I can never ever pull off this uber-cool brand. For autumn/winter the slogans were out in force, with knits emblazoned with ‘Be Happy’, ‘Relax’, and ‘Say No To Drugs’, as well as lots of smiley face logos, bright colours, clashing prints, and sequinned Buddhas.
Entitled, Bollywouldn’t, this collection really had a grungy vibe to it that I am sure the cool crowd will get behind, but other than rainbow platformed boots I really can’t see myself in any of it, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing!!!
I did have other shows after Ashish but with deadlines looming and tiredness kicking it I have to admit that I ditched the rest of the day for a proper meal with my boyfriend and a relaxing night in front of the TV – very fashion of me!!!
