It seems that Miu Miu’s older sister, Prada has taken back the cover spot this season with its swimsuit-come-bodysuit from its spring/summer 2012 collection. This vintage-inspired bodysuit is gorgeous and definitely made an impact on the catwalk and so far it has bagged a lot of covers around the world including two covers with Victoria Beckham on Harper’s Bazaar UK and Le Figaro.
We’ve also seen Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence showing off her curves in it for Glamour UK, Lara Mullen also worked the brocade version for Dazed & Confused, Harper’s Bazaar Spain styled Jessica Stam in it, and even Vogue Paris, ELLE China, and British GQ got in on the action.
Now it seems another Harper’s Bazaar title, this time Singapore has the swimsuit on its May cover, teamed with a pin-up Fifties hair this is another great cover – I love the diamanté flower belt. But is anyone else thinking that Harper’s got together on a global Skype call and decided that Miuccia’s retro vibe was the breakout star of the season and called in all the pieces?
I find it interesting that with all the collections out there that there are still some pieces that get numerous covers – is it a lack of imagination in magazine styling or just that these pieces are so good that everyone wants a piece of them?
