Beauty: Chanel Launches Indian Inspired Make-Up Range

Back in December, Karl Lagerfeld showcased a Bombay-inspired Chanel destination-themed Métiers d’Art collection for the pre-autumn/winter 2012 collection, and now the fashion house has released a gorgeous limited-edition make-up collection full of metallic hues and dreams of Indian to accompany it.

The collection filled with Indian princesses strutting down the catwalk swathed in metallic embellished saris and the most exquisite ornate jewellery was spectacular, but what really caught most attention had to be the flawless make-up, especially the models gorgeous heavily kohl-rimmed eyes created by Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup.

Called Bombay Express, the limited-edition collection which launched this week is seriously divine,  featuring opulent gold shades perfect for an Indian beauty. My favourite piece has to be Chanel Le Vernis (£18) – Diwali nail polish, have you even seen a gold varnish shimmer and look so luxurious before? Apparently its shine comes from mixing pale gold and silver and I can’t wait to try it out.

Another standout piece from the seven-strong collection has to be the Route Des Indes De Chanel (£48), an ultra-luminescent golden pressed powder, which is embossed with the motif of a rare piece of bronze brocade from an Indian-influenced collection created by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1960s. Add that shimmering gold within the classic Chanel lacquered black compact, with the coveted interlocking C’s and this is one luxurious addition to your make-up bag. The power adds a warm sunny earth tone and can be brushed over cheekbones, dabbed onto eyelids and the high points of the face.

The Bombay Express Limited Edition Collection starts at £17 and is available exclusively in Chanel Boutiques in Harrods, Selfridges Oxford Street/ Manchester Exchange, House of Fraser Glasgow and Fenwick Newcastle.

I don’t know about you – but I so want to be an Indian beauty!!!
