Video Loving: Only Prada Can Make Chess Stylish

Who knew chess could be so stylish? Well, obviously Miuccia Prada did as her latest video showing off her incredible “virtual princess” themed autumn/winter 2012 collection stars supermodels Magdalena Frackowiak and Anne Vyalitsyna playing a fantasy game of chess.

Shot by Steven Meisel the abstract video is filled with the sharp geometric patterns of the autumn/winter show and as described by the fashion house “a virtual labyrinth of fantasy and reality” – so basically this is what a Prada videogame would look like!!!

What’s very cool about that this fantasy game of chess is that every time Magdalena or Anne move a piece, they force models Vanessa Exente, Madison Headrick, Elza Luijendijk and Iselin Steiro to move in tandem, so this is chess with a fashion face-off  – and really does show that models are just pawns **sorry couldn’t resist it**.

I love the styling of the video, everything from the 1970s vibe of the geometric printed trouser suits to the razor sharp sleek straight locks and the dramatic dark eye make-up.

I loved last seasons 1950s retro campaign, it was fun and quirky, but there is something magical about this creepy game of chess. Check it out and let me know what you think:
