I love a presentation and Markus Lupfer knows how to make his showcase one of the must-see shows of London Fashion Week as he always makes it fun and playful. For spring/summer 2014, the designer took us back to the early 90’s and gathered us all in the chicest teenage girls bedroom ever, complete with hunks plastered on the wall and a burger phone.
With a nostalgic look back to the early 90’s MTV generation, the collection was filled with floral patchwork trousers, skirts and matching bombers, alongside white jacquard dresses featuring a jumbo abstract floral print.
There was a youthful feel to the collection, with the teenage references including a Jason Priestley t-shirt and slogan tees branded with ‘Loser’ ‘Lame’ and ‘Whatever’ inspired by Mean Girls, while still offering a grown-up vibe with the kaleidoscopic floral patchwork pieces.
What was surprising to see was the fact that there weren’t any sequinned jumpers, there were still sequins on the t-shirts and on the embellished flats – but it seems like Lupfer is looking more to his grown-up ready-to-wear pieces which is nice to see.
My favourite pieces, other than the Jason Priestley t-shirt which is top of my SS14 wishlist, has to be the floral bomber jacket and the fun kitty jumper.
Basically I loved it all – roll on summer 2014!!!
