Do you remember when we had that sunny spell in September, it felt like the summer we never had, well these style pics wearing this Boden maxi dress are from then. Don’t ask me why I haven’t posted them sooner, part of me felt like I already had, which is probably why I archived the pictures away, but I’ve checked back through my style posts and I couldn’t see this incredible jade green maxi dress, and I love this dress too much not to share, even if now the weather is slightly more on the chilly side.
There is something about a maxi dress, I actually go in waves of loving, I think it’s because they are never on trend, more just always there so you can’t over-do it. At the moment I can’t get enough, I wore a maxi dress throughout the summer at every chance I could, from the stripy Gap bargain beauty that I featured last year to the super flattering floral maxi dress that I wore to the lavender farm, and even the gorgeous floaty maxi that I wore while in Kuala Lumpur. They really are just great get-up-and-go outfits, which you can style up-and-down dependent on your mood and occasion.
But now that the sun has gone, OK that’s a bit dramatic, but we can all agree it isn’t as warm, I still really want to wear maxi dresses – so it has got me looking for floaty floor-length day dresses that are a little warmer, maybe they have sleeves, work with biker boots and cool hats. Yep, I think I’m turning into a 70’s boho chick, but it’s my mission to track down new pieces to wear over-and-over again this autumn.
There are so many ways to wear a maxi dress when the weather turns colder, why not teamed with a leather jacket, a chunky knit, layer a denim shirt over, or why not add a long maxi cardigan for the ultimate layered effect, and if your maxi dress is buttoned down the front why not wear over a pair of jeans, keep warm while still having that floaty skirt feel.
