Spring/summer 2016 it seems is the season of the shoulders, as designers look to subtle sexy and effortlessly chic. The catwalks were filled with shoulder moments from off-the-shoulder tops to asymmetrical necklines, however, my favourite, a nod to the 90s has to be shoulder cutouts or as the kids are now calling it, the cold shoulder. Everyone from Christopher Kane, Issa, Rebecca Minkoff, Ellery and Proenza Schouler sent their models down the catwalk showing off their shoulders, and it’s hardly surprising as who doesn’t like their shoulders. Come on, if you had to name one unflattering part of your body, I bet it wouldn’t be your shoulders. It’s like a universally flattering part of the body, everyone’s shoulders look great and to prove it this week’s Friday Favourites is dedicated to the trend that leaves a little to the imagination.

There is something so cool and effortless about the cold shoulder trend that once the sun comes out I’m sure everyone will be wearing. For now, there are a couple of great chunky knits with shoulder cut-outs or why not give the denim shirt a try, for a great way to invigorate the double denim trend.
What I love about this trend has to be the clean lines, I’m in love with New Look’s swing dress, a bold colour and perfectly placed cut-outs, what’s more, to ask for, oh, and best bit it is under £25 so a bargain as well. For a bolder statement, opt for Asos’ pom pom detailed knitted dress – I actually have ordered this so I will show you guys how it looks on my Instagram over the weekend.
For a great work look, why not try this gorgeous Topshop gingham cold shoulder shirt, I love the feminine cut of this shirt as well as the tie detailing of the sleeves. This beauty will look great paired with a pencil skirt as well as jeans for a casual look.
