Anyone else excited to see warmer, brighter weather on the horizon? I love the change from winter to spring as it means I get to embrace spring florals, bare legs, and cropped denim jackets, as well as enjoy the lighter nights, afternoons in the garden and the general glow that comes with the changing of a season. It can be hard sometimes to switch out of winter dressing, I’m so used to wrapping up warm in lots of layers, I’ve become a little attached to my chunky knits, jeans, and boots that it is hard to make the switch, so I thought I would ease my way in gently by adding a cosy jumper and ankle boots to my spring florals.
I’m a lover of wearing boots with skirts, I always have been, I think it has something to do with my feet always being cold so strappy heels aren’t generally my first choice of footwear. I also like that boots, especially these Topshop metallic beauties add something a little different to the look, I think they make this drop hem floral skirt less formal, especially with the addition of the denim jacket.
This skirt is the highlight of this look, I’m obsessed with Wolf & Whistle, it really is a great label that knows how to do spring florals right, and this drop hem skirt is so pretty. Granted, I think it is probably more suited for a wedding, especially when paired with this clashing floral print cami, but I just loved it paired with metallic and denim. I just felt it was more me, a way for me to embrace spring florals, while still staying true to my personal style. You guys know me, I love denim, but can you believe that this is my first denim jacket in probably about 15 years, I know right, crazy, and I actually picked it up on a manic last-minute shopping session before London Fashion Week at Primark, I think it was like £12, so I couldn’t resist. For me, a denim jacket has to be the right shade of blue, and this one comes pretty close, it also has to have enough room in the arms to roll up the sleeves, I don’t know why but so many now are too tight, and it has to have pockets, as I need somewhere to display my crazy collection of badges and pins.
The other piece I have to mention is this pale blue jumper, also from Primark I picked it up as it had a Gucci vibe about it with the bird embroidery, and then I became obsessed with how soft it was, it is dreamy soft and so lovely to wear, also the colour is so perfect with this spring florals skirt. I can’t remember the exact price but I think it was around the £10 mark and definitely a great transitional piece, would look great with a denim skirt or shorts come summer.
