One of the things I love most when the weather gets warmer and the sun is shining is getting outdoors and enjoying our garden, it is like my happy place, total relaxation and I love just hanging out having picnics under my favourite tree, creating the ultimate chill-out zone to read my book, as well as having everyone over for a monster barbecue.
After our little mini heatwave last week it got me thinking, what did I want to put in our garden to jazz it up ready for the next wave of sunshine, so I’ve teamed up with the fab guys at Wayfair to show you three of my garden moodboards – I have picnic time, hanging chairs and the creation of the ultimate chill out zone where my friends can just hangout and listen to music and eat yummy food.
I love a good picnic, whether that’s in the garden, at the beach, at my favourite National Trust place, or even in the car, yep, sometimes the weather doesn’t always play fair with us here in the UK. But I have the most fun styling up my garden and inviting friends and family over for a mini feast. One of my ideas for this summer has to be creating a picnic around a tipi, I keep seeing them everywhere and I just want one, seriously, how cute – it’s the perfect focal point for your picnic, as well as an adorable cover-up if the sun is too strong.
Once you have your focal point then you get to have some fun, add some cushions, an outdoor rug, some string lights in the trees, a faux cactus plant just for fun, some quirky furniture, as well as some bright crockery and glasses. Basically just have some fun with it, a picnic isn’t about everything having a place just stick to a theme. Last tip, invest in a wood burning fire pit just in case the weather isn’t as warm or you are too comfortable to go inside.

Garden Inspiration To Get Outdoors This Summer
There is something about a hanging chair that instantly makes me excited about reading my book all day and simply relaxing in peach. Come on, there’s nothing more fun than just absolutely doing nothing on a hot, sunny day, and a hanging chair is a great idea. So whether you are looking for a quiet place on the terrace, under your favourite tree, or even in the conservatory, there are so many options.
Our forever house has a great outdoor space, so much so, my goal is to create the ultimate chill-out zone where we can friends and family over for summer parties and barbecues and I have my eye on a rattan sofa set like this beauty, as I just love the round detailing, as well as that it can be placed together in different configurations.
The beauty of a set like this is, you can place it on your patio, in a secluded sun-trap surrounded by trees in your garden or even indoors in a conservatory or sunroom. I love the idea of placing it away from the house, where you can decorate the area around it with lights in the trees, outdoor rugs, and lots of plant pots filled with summer blooms. As with the picnic there are no rules, go for comfort so lots of cushions and lots of places to sit, I love these knitted pouffes as they add extra seats or tables when entertaining.
