One of my favourite things to do is have my nails done, that’s close to an hour of relaxation, off my phone and just taking a breather, and every three weeks I savour that time. I also see it as a chance of having some fun, and I’ve been embracing the not one nail colour, but more like a different hue for every finger, yep, I’ve fully gone crazy for the easiest summer beauty trend, Rainbow Nails.
I don’t normally do trends, especially in beauty, but going for a different coloured polish on each nail is super fun, and easy to do, it is all about choosing the right colours to create a cohesive manicure and to help you out I have three sure-fire colourful manicures that you can share with your nail artist to make your nails your coolest summer accessory.
Pastel Rainbow Nails
The whole idea is to make sure your rainbow nails are purposefully mismatched, you want them to stand out for being different colours, but you don’t want them to look odd, so choosing pastel hues is perfect. For me, I love the idea of combining pastel pinks with blues, greens and purples, they work so well, and are great with a summer wardrobe, so they will work with numerous outfits.
For my look I would have loved to have included a yellow hue, but my nail artist didn’t have one, so instead to create a cohesive gradient I went for two pink colours, which I think worked really well – but if you can find a pastel yellow tone try that instead.
Something Blue Nails
When deciding on your rainbow nails I always think a good starting point is to think dark-to-light, start with the darkest/brightest shade on your thumb, blend into the next hue, and end with the softest/lightest tone on your pinky and this works perfectly is you just want to go for one colour – like blue.
I went for blue as I love a denim blue nail and I thought it would be fun to try out all the blue hues on one manicure – I love how the greeny-blue on the thumb really sets the tone right down the fingers to the icy-blue which had a gorgeous shimmer to it.
Pink and Orange Nails
Pink and orange is always a great combination, especially for the summer, and works perfectly on nails. I have two options for you all dark hues, with a pop of light on your pinky, or alternate between lighter and darker shades to highlight the contrast of the colours. Both work really well, but if I’m honest I think I prefer the contrasting colour block as I think it looks more summery.
Which combination is your favourite? Need more inspiration? I have a great rainbow nails board on my Pinterest, but why not have a chat with your nails artist and don’t forget to share with me on my Instagram @adaniellelife with what you get.
I have a few thoughts about my next rainbow manicure – I was thinking of going for cool-toned neutrals filled with all the milky nudes out there or maybe an autumnal feel, or mix it up and do a classic French manicure with rainbow tips for an elegant cool kind of look – but what I love the most is the idea of having two-toned stripes featuring two
