When I was little the primary school I didn’t go to wore gingham, I was always jealous, especially in summer, because come on it is the perfect picnic print. As a grown-up, I’ve always loved gingham, alongside florals it really is timeless and let’s face it, just fun and summery. Normally I stick to black and white, classic gingham, but this year I’ve fallen hard for this lovely dress from Nobody’s Child with its gorgeous green hue and textured fabric.

Plus this summer there are more colour choices and I think going colourful can make this picnic-style modern.

Gingham is now available in all the colours of the rainbow, and after the year we have had, why not embrace a brighter outlook with your clothing. Sometimes going colourful can seem more like following a trend, so there could be a worry that you might not wear as much, or even in years to come.
I always ask myself, do I already have dresses in that colour. If yes, do I need more? If no, why not? Is it that I didn’t wear a similar dress before or just that I haven’t found one in that hue before. With everything I buy now, I like to make sure the piece has longevity and can be mixed and matched with the rest of my wardrobe.
