Last night I was invited to the launch of fashion and music charity Trekstock’s limited edition, pop-up shop just off Carnaby Street. The 10,000 hearts pop-up shop is open to the public from today until July 15 and it is definitely worth a visit, as the t-shirts on sale are amazing and only £10,.
Trekstock have collaborated with 10 international bands/artist to design a tee for the cause to raise money for research into cancers which affect young people. The acts involved include The Maccabees, Little Boots, Ellie Goulding, Bloc Party and my fav new Mancunians Delphic – as well as a special design in support of Save BBC 6Music. What makes it even better is each tee is only £10, a bargain – as there are some great designs and come on people it is for charity!!
The space on Broadwick Street has been used for a number of pop-up shops over the past few months, including doubling as Friend’s Central Perk, and it was nice to see that Trekstock have also doubled up the shop as a gallery. With some exclusive artwork on the walls from some of the best street artists to bring the pop-up shop to life, even the tees are displayed like art – and they certainly are eye catching.
Another reason why I love this charity is that they’ve brought the pin badge back, gone are the plastic charity bracelets, or ribbons – come on people get on board and pick up one of these badges. Great addition to a blazer, hat, bag or denim jacket. Or if you like me and have a lot, they jazz up any cushion.
The night was a chilled out affair, I mean with the peeps and the music, temperature wise London was very humid, but checking out all the t-shirts was a great night, and a great launch event.
My favourite tee had to be this The Maccabees, a finger print with a heart in the middle, I liked so much I had to have it. Doing my bit for charity always feels good, I also bought another one for my boyfriend and my friend went for the nautical Save 6Music design.
So whatever you are after, there is a tee for you – I also liked the pink Foals tee, and the multicoloured number from The Horrors and the whirly pink horse design from Ellie Goulding.
So if you have chance to get down to the pop-up shop, do, as not only can you pick up a great tee and do your bit for charity – also some of the acts are popping down to the shop to do guest DJ sets and appearance. Follow Trekstock on Twitter to find out when your favourite artists will be in store.
