Matalan: Catwalk inspired pieces for SS11
We all know what great value Matalan is, but this week I was pleasantly surprised with what the retailer has to offer for spring/summer 2011. I particularly loved the Be Beau and Papaya lines, inspired by key looks and trends from the catwalk.
From the Chanel inspired Papaya bouclé jacket (£28) to the various Miu Miu looks such as this black flower dress and flower print clog (£22).
There were seriously a lot of nice pieces, and come next season we are all going to be embracing floral prints, playsuits*yep again – they aren’t going anywhere*, and full 50’s dresses.
Matalan: I want that bow cardigan
One piece I wish would come early is the gorgeous Papaya bow embroidered cardigan, which will only be a staggering £18 – bargain!! I love the chunky knit, the chunky buttons and the blue bows – this cardigan will go with so many looks. Whether teaming it with a flowery print dress or jumpsuit or just with jeans – I can’t wait to add to my wardrobe.
Matalan: Satchels still in for spring
Another trend which won’t be going away any time soon *thank god* is the satchel, I have been to many press days where the satchel is still the bag of choice for next season and it was evident at Matalan.
But the bag that caught my eye was the straw circle traveller bag, which is going to retail for only £8 – such good value for a chic piece – and will be perfect accompaniment for a summer’s day.

If you haven’t been to Matalan in a while, trust me it is well worth a visit, you’ll pick up some great on-trend bargains. Admittedly you may have to travel a bit further to find a great store, I have found some Matalan’s don’t really represent the brand very well, so shop around, as once you do you’ll be going back regularly.
