Pre-Fall 2011: Chanel Ode To Istanbul

Pic: Pre-fall 2011 invite

As always Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld showcased a luxurious pre-fall 2011 collection in Paris. With the help of an amazing 36 models, the Paris-Bryzance collection was shown at Métiers d’Art. Inspired by the Byzantine Empire, Karl’s collection was gorgeous and lavish with its tweeds interwoven with gold, the romantic feminine use of chiffon, lace and tulle that only Chanel can master, and then teamed with the satin, leather and velvets to give the line a rock and roll elegance. For me this is the best Chanel collection for a number of seasons.

I loved the exquisite stonework detail, the tight-fitted black tweed coats embroidered with gold thread, adorned bodices, jewelled buttons, tunics, and it worked amazingly well with a 60s vibe to the hair and styling – relaxed elegance and for Chanel – extremely wearable.
