Haute Couture: Elie Saab – A Woman of Character

As always Elie Saab produced a gorgeous Haute Couture spring collection, entitled A Woman of Character, each dress was more gorgeous than the next. I am sure that we will see a number of these dresses at the BAFTAs and the Oscars in the coming weeks, and I hoping that one of the showstoppers above gets a chance to shine. I can totally see Anne Hathaway working the flower number, and Cameron Diaz dazzling in the thigh-high split black gown and the nude would be perfect on Sandra Bullock. But I would just be happy seeing them walk the red carpet.

The collection was full of delicate lace and embroidery, tulle, organza and chiffon prints, with a colour palette of tea-rose pink, mauve, rasperberry, aniseed green and stone, the perfect mix of spring. In the show-notes the colour palette was attributed to a scented breeze, and I love that description for the exquisite collection of gowns.

This collection has lots of defined waists, with many of the gowns belted with an embroidered tone-on-tone grosgrain ribbon, my favourite has to be these stone gowns.

As the title suggests woman of character, this collection has options with high-cut boat necks, one-shoulders, deep v-necks, sweet-heart strapless, square necks, and there are sexy, regal and romantic looks – seriously something for every shape, personality and occasion as there were more cocktail gowns than normal.

Can’t have couture gowns without a section dedicated to the black beauties, and these were my three favourites. The middle one in-particular I could see walking the red carpet as is, gorgeous contrast of the delicate lace white bodice against the curve accentuating skirt – totally old Hollywood glamour that needs flash bulbs to shine.

As with most couture finales, the Elie Saab wedding dress gown, divine. This was a collection that floated down the runway, gorgeous, I really can’t fault anything, totally love at first sight!!
