Sadly I wasn’t very well positioned to take my own pictures, which seems to always be the way in the main tent at London Fashion Week for me, but the lovely people over at Daks posted these. But once again this show was definitely worth getting up early for, and the perfect start to day two of LFW.
The autumn/winter 2011 collection, was inspired by the Daks archive, with heritage pieces and Daks traditional checks being reworked to produced a conservative-yet-cool collection of classic English style. My first thought was that it was very Princess Margaret in her heyday!
Last season I was completely crushing over the pleated maxi-dresses, this season it is all about the full quilted mid-calf length ball skirts and the prim black patent leather mini-satchels.
I love the use of the Daks plaid, and the introduction of knitwear created in collaboration with Emma Bradbury, the cream knits worked perfectly with the autumnal colour palette of navy, chocolate and greens. Everything about this collection was completely stunning, from the simple hair swept to the side, to the chic gold belt and the patent boots and court shoes.
I loved the outerwear with the hooded ponchos, and the quilted jackets with the check lining, which reminded me a little of Burberry. There is a sophisticated and quintessential British charm to this collection that will have the Chelsea-set swiping their credit cards!
