My first London Fashion Week show of the autumn/winter season was the amazing Maria Grachvogel, set in the stunning Lancaster Ballroom at The Savoy. I am always excited for this show, not only because the invitation is a gorgeous notepad with an amazing print on it, but I love her signature drapes and tailored pieces.
This season Maria has been inspired from tribal to the dark fairy tales of the Brother Grimm, and it has produced an ethereal collection with prints evoking the fairy tales, bones and enchanted forests. It seriously is a gorgeous, striking collection, and I loved all the inky swirls, the floor-length silk crepe gowns and the vibrant orange colour.
Maria did once again play to her strengths, with amazing draping to the floor-length gowns, and exquiste tailoring of the trousers teamed with gorgeous satin draped tops. Everything about this collection was completely wearable and feminine, the gowns may get all the coverage, and they deserve red carpet moments, but for me the daywear pieces from the wool trousers to the classic day dresses would make any woman feel gorgeous.
It was also nice to see this season the introduction of a capsule handbag collection, the chic clutch in a deep damson shade is amazing.
Last season, all the hair was sleek and straight, this time around it was very severe with the hair and make-up working the theme of dark fairy tales. The lips were black, eyebrows darkened and the hair was scraped back high in a bun with strands spiked out at odd angles.
