LFW SS12: Holly Fulton – From Vegas To Margate

There does seem to be a theme brewing this London Fashion Week and that has to be the staycation and making the seaside chic again. We saw a gorgeous retro seaside at Daks London, Mulberry even did their own rock, and now Holly Fulton has produced a collection for the lady that has ‘dressed for Vegas – but hits Margate’.

I am a huge fan of Holly Fulton, I met her last season and instantly feel in love with her passion and enthusiasm for fashion. I loved her collections before that but now I get giddy at seeing something new from her.

For spring/summer 2012, the collection draws inspiration from Slim Aarons’ photographs of the US poolside scene from the late 60s and 70s, which is most evident in the colour palette of the collection that features turquoise, pops of pink, her classic yellow and a checkered-flag monochrome. I don’t know about everyone else but for me it kind of had a hint of Versace and Pucci about it, ooh she would be fabulous at an Italian fashion house.

Last season I died for her Holly Relax clutch, this time around it has to be all about those crazy amazing earrings. Oh and the very chic knitwear collaboration she has done with Scottish brand Caerlee for SS12, I need this cardigan in my life!!

As always Holly’s signature art-deco graphics look amazing mixed in with bold zebra print, heavy embellishments, sea-inspired waves, shells and animals, sun rays, and gorgeous crystallised square designs.

There was lots of variety in the line, from exquisitely cut silk trousers, to loungewear cardigans, shift dresses, the sexiest swimwear I have ever seen, but only one her signature maxi dresses made the cut.

Overall, another fabulous collection, full of fun and sexy pieces, and thank you Holly for a great soundtrack I loved Cassius’ The Sound of Violence. Also special shout out has to go out to Cutler and Gross for those fabulous sunglasses, tres chic and perfect for a great spring/summer collection.
