I was excited to see what Lako Bukia was showing for spring/summer 2012, mainly because we’ve been chatting on Twitter, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. This was my only show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout this season, a little bit because I was only in London for three days, but also because labels that I love such as BodyAmr weren’t showing this season, and I am so glad I went as the collection was simply divine.
Taking inspiration from Asian trees and flowers, the collection featured a gorgeous hand-drawn flower print to the collection, making it the first time Lako Bukia had introduced print into her pieces. I am so glad she did as I loved the pops of red flowers among a colour palette of mainly white, grey and black.
The very feminine and delicate collection was produced mainly in chiffon and silk, and they looked amazing flowing down the catwalk. I loved all the full sweeping skirts and maxi dresses, as well as the intricate detailing in the covered buttons on the tops.
What I have noticed a lot with the collections this season is the addition of more wearable items, Corrie Nielsen did the same, and I am so glad that Lako did as well as the silk shorts and trousers with paperbag waist detailing were perfection.
Lako’s SS12 show also gets my vote for one of the best musical accompaniments with the use of Arcade Fire, perfect beat for such an amazing collection filled with wow pieces in the flowing maxi dresses mixed perfectly with wearable tailored items. I also think special mention has to go to the hair, I love what Toni&Guy did with the hair, the Japanese-style quiffs were edgy yet still feminine and worked amazing with the collection. Want to try the look at home well the hairdressing giants have put together this cute film.
