I do love it when fashion and art collides, especially when done well, and I am in love with every single piece in the new French Sole Degas collection. The limited edition collection is in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Arts new exhibition, Degas and the Ballet: Picture Movement exhibition.
The ‘ballet inspired’ footwear brand’s designer Jane Winkworth has taken particular inspiration from Degas’ famous sculpture ‘Little Dancer Aged Fourteen’, and that image has been embossed on the mirrored soles and adorned on the gorgeous shoe boxes. The collection is simply stunning, full of ballet and theatrical embellishments such as jewels, tutu netting, ribbons, and textured uppers, all done to echo the sense of theatrical drama associated with the Victoria Paris Opera House scenes as illustrated in Degas’ work.
My favourite has to be this navy polka-dot ballet flats with tutu netting embellished flower on the toes, also this ballet shoe isn’t quite flat as the silver sole also has a slight heel, which looks amazing.
