Editorial Loving: Louis Vuitton Meets Pop Art

As you know I am still on catch-up with my huge pile of magazines, and I have found such an amazing editorial full of Louis Vuitton’s autumn/winter 2011 collection in 10 Magazine’s AW11 edition.

Normally, I am not one for single designer editorial spreads, I suppose it is because it can seem a little like an advertorial or worse a suck-up to get them to advertise, but I was pleasantly surprised by the quirky approach in 10 Magazine’s Art issue. The magazine teamed up with fab pop art illustrator Barry Reigate, you might not know the name but you will know his work, remember the Stella McCartney autumn/winter 2011 campaign? Well he did those quirky illustrations.

Well Barry Reigate has worked his cartoon genius over a creative editorial shoot starring Marike Le Roux styled head-to-toe in LV by Sophia Neophitou, and snapped by Christian Anwanderm. The cute and theatrical spread works perfectly with clown faces, and floating logs and bubbles. What is great about this editorial is, I love the fun of having Reigate’s signature illustrations over the model, but without it overpowering the amazing clothes. Clever approach and I’m so glad that some magazine’s are taking creative risks, for me this works so well that I wish I could get the prints for my wall.
