I love fashion films, I love something a little different, and I rave about things that blur the boundaries between fashion and art, but come on Proenza Schouler what were you thinking?
Maybe, it is just me but I seriously don’t get this film by Harmony Korine, it is just seriously creepy and pervy for me.
Entitled Snowballs, this short promo features the autumn/winter 2011 collection, and was shot in a trailer park featuring two models playing costume, while seeming a little high. I don’t know about you but it has a David Lynch kind of feel to it, and I certainly don’t write that in a good way.
I get that given the range was inspired by a 10-day road trip through the Southwest that there would be Navajo and Native American influences, but come on did it really need models wearing very creepy silicone masks and Native American headdresses dancing around?? Oh and don’t even get me started about the pervy old man. I am seriously feeling gross after watching this.
This promo was screened at a fancy party in Paris, imagine being there and witnessing this film in front of the designers, I wouldn’t know where to look. I get that they’ve gone for something a little avant-garde, well a lot actually, but I want to know who told them that a crystal meth trailer park would be a chic location?
Please I need your views – what do you think of this film?
