Elie Saab is a genius at creating glamour that oozes confidence, which is probably why he is so popular with Hollywood’s leading ladies, as well as his designs standing out so much on the red carpet. This week the designer showcased his spring/summer 2015 couture collection, which should be renamed as the Oscar best dressed shortlist, as there were so many gowns that hit the runway that should be destined for red carpet glory.
As with Chanel and Armani nature played inspiration to the collection, with oversize blooms and abstract tree-bark effects featuring on gorgeous sheer gowns. But as always with Elie Saab it was the softer, romantic, Disney-princess gowns that captured my heart the most, which really were exquisite with his signature sequinned embroideries teamed with Ostrich feathers that looked incredible swishing down the runway, oh how I wish I had seen these gowns up close.
There were also a few sixties inspired pieces, with contemporary short dresses teamed with flats and dripping in feathers, which still oozed the glamour of Elie Saab that we have come to love, while adding a fun, playful twist, which I am sure will be a hit with his rich customers as well as celebrities looking for something cool to wear to photocalls.
I have to say that this was just one simply divine collection. I’m hoping that Julianne Moore steps away from Givenchy and opts for Elie Saab as I think she would do his gowns justice, as would Felicity Jones, she needs a proper princess moment, and don’t you think Emma Stone would look a knockout in that top white gown, I love how it combines beadwork, feathers and falls just off the shoulders for a real Old Hollywood feel.
