So last night Rosie Huntington-Whiteley hit up a party celebrating her first fragrance with M&S Beauty wearing nothing more than a silk nightdress from her own Rosie for Autograph sleepwear collection for Marks & Spencer, and I have to be honest if you read that statement without seeing the pictures you might think she has lost her fashion mojo, but wow, Rosie really can wear anything and still look incredible.
OK, so we’ve seen lingerie-inspired pieces before on the red carpet, from the likes of Louis Vuitton, Jean Paul Gaultier and even Elie Saab sent nightie-like dresses down the runway a few seasons ago, but they were designer, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is oozing old-school glamour wearing an £89 silk slip and making it look effortless and chic, and I don’t think anyone would have thought that this was a nightgown at the party.
I love that she kept the vintage feel going with her statement necklace and delicate silver strappy heels. I simply can’t fault this look, as always she looks beautiful from head-to-toe and I adore her new lob haircut, super cute.
Now I’m not suggesting that it is OK to wear your silky nightie or pyjamas out, well that is unless you are a supermodel, but this style also comes in a shorter camisole version that you could wear underneath a shirt or dress so the négligée can peek through, or go bold and wear with jeans and a blazer for a chic, contemporary look. You might have to wait for it to get a little warmer though!!!
Are you tempted to wear your nightie out to a party? Or does it totally make you think of that episode from Friends when Rachel has to wear her lingerie out to dinner with her boyfriend’s parents?
