I’m interrupting regular girlie stuff for something a little different today, something aimed really at the men in your life, the Chivas Regal Gentlemen’s Lounge pop-up at the Park Tower London, Hyde Bar. Normally my events don’t really interest my husband but when I said to him that whisky, cigars and hearty food would be involved he jumped at the chance, and I have to be honest I was pretty interested in trying out a few whisky cocktails.
The Park Tower London is perfectly placed for a night out, it is right in the heart of Knightsbridge, and their Hyde Bar has been transformed into a traditional Gentlemen’s Lounge, complete with Chivas Regal whisky cocktails and a cigar terrace.
The pop-up is only open from today, May 28 until June 21, and you’ll be treated to a special menu created by the hotel’s executive chef Pascal Proyart, we were treated to a taste of the menu at the launch and it includes a duck and pistachio pie, a firm favourite of my husbands, as well as whisky cured salmon, cod fillet and chorizo fish and chips, venison scotch eggs, and hand cut fries.
There were also a number of desserts, the highlight for me being the chocolate cigars and the whisky-flavoured ice-cream cake pops, the truffles and whisky-dosed fruit cake weren’t bad either, I may have been naughty and had numerous slices of the fruit cake as it was so yummy.
I would recommend checking out the lounge for the Chivas Regal Sour Hour, from 6-7pm, the passion fruit one was my favourite, whisky it turns out really works well with a fruity kick, whereas my husband preferred the straight whisky sour as well as the cocktail that mixed the whisky with white wine. I think it is safe to say if you like whisky you’ll love these.
It was also an informative night, I learnt all about the Chivas Regal Whisky blends, it was interesting finding out the work that goes into making each bottle, and my husband enjoyed his rather generous testing shots, with the 18 year Gold Signature being his favourite out of the three on offer. If you are interested in whisky blending you might want to check out the Art of Blending Whisky Course that will be held on June 11, for more information on booking check the website.
The lounge will also have complimentary shoe polishing on June 2, 9 and 16th from the London Shoe Shine company. I love seeing these traditions at work, and my husband was super impressed with how shiny his shoes looked afterwards.
