This week is Afternoon Tea Week and if it hadn’t clashed with my trip to Kuala Lumpur, **one more sleep to go**, I would have certainly been enjoying a delicious afternoon tea every day, it would have been rude not to!!! Well that said, I couldn’t let the celebrations not be enjoyed by you lovely folks in my absence, so to get you inspired about clotted cream, jam, scones and tiny sandwiches, I thought I would share my three favourite hotel afternoon teas in London.
Ham Yard Hotel
I’m a huge fan of the Ham Yard hotel with its eccentric vibe and the afternoon tea is stylish and tasty in equal measures. I would recommend this hotel if you are celebrating something special, as it is a memorable place, not only because of the quirky interior, make sure you walk around the hotel a little, but because of the impeccable service and presentation of this afternoon tea.
The Ham Yard changes its afternoon tea menu fortnightly, so you will always get something new, expect something creative and traditional, with no-gimmicks, just great quality sandwich fillings, such as smoked salmon, roast beef, and hummus, served with warm, yummy scones and an assortment of exquisite pastries and cakes.

One Aldwych
I do like a well executed themed afternoon tea and they don’t get much better than the Charlie and Chocolate Factory inspired scrumdiddlyumptious affair at One Aldywch that reflects the wit and wonder of Roald Dahl’s classic tale.
This afternoon tea really captures the imagination of the book featuring everything from decadent golden eggs to blueberry brioche and playful flavoured candy floss, which was one of my favourite things about this tea. It really combines the traditional elements of the afternoon tea and makes it modern and fun, if you have children I’m sure they would enjoy this one over the others.

Sanderson Hotel
After an afternoon tea to catch up with friends I would suggest the Sanderson Hotel’s Mad Hatter’s Tea, it really mixes the traditional with the surreal of Alice in Wonderland in perfectly and has a more laid back feel than most London hotels.
The Mad Hatter’s Tea has been running for a several years now, I’ve been a number of times and I love that the menu continues to evolve, with elements and flavours changing seasonally. So even if you have been before maybe it is time to give it another go. Also if you are a lover of great crockery you will love this tea set, with teapots adorned with kings and queens and sandwich plates featuring zebras, birdcages, carousels and ticking clocks.

Don’t fancy any of those why not try the W London, Sofitel St James, or The Park Lane Hotel.
