I remember when Old Street tube station used to be that bit of the underground that confused the hell out of me, seriously how many exits does it need, but in recent years it has become a hotspot for some cool fashion pop-ups. Earlier in the summer Cambridge Satchel Company gave it a festival vibe and now American Eagle Outfitters are showing off their denim collections.
Open until September 20, American Eagle Outfitters has all of its denim favourites on offer for both men and women. It’s basically denim overload, rows and rows of jeans from bleached blue to deep indigo, and black. They also have ever style imaginable including skinnies, flares, bootcut, straight cut, and even boyfriend, which come in every finish possible from the fashionably ripped, distressed, patchwork, and glossy to the good old American blue denim.
I’m a denim addict so I was in heaven plus I’m a fan of American Eagle Outfitters casual-cool-affordable vibe, with most of the jeans coming in at around the £30-40 mark, and in my opinion a better fit and quality of denim than say Topshop, H&M and River Island.
The pop-up has a great atmosphere and the staff are super knowledgeable – I had the wonderful Johnnie looking after me, talking me through the different styles, the various cuts, variations of denim, as well as telling me not to be afraid of the jeggings that’s just what the American brand calls their skinnies. Plus he was super helpful in getting my head around the American sizing, still confuses me.
I fell in love with numerous pairs, the Tomgirl aka AEO’s boyfriend fit, the distressed flares, and their popular patchwork jegging, but in the end I couldn’t resist the rock-n-roll vibes of the black ripped super, super stretch jeggings. They really are super flattering.
I’m not easily impressed with it comes to denim, I find too many high street lines ill-fitted, made from poor quality denim, as well as having a short shelf-life, they lose their shape and fade badly. I’m not saying I’m all about designer, even though I do have a soft spot for Donna Ida, I’m also a huge fan of Gap’s line of jeans and now American Eagle Outfitters.
I haven’t yet checkout their stores at Westfield City and Stratford, they also have one in Bluewater, but I’ve added it to my to-do list as this denim pop-up has seriously impressed me. I can’t wait to style my ripped pair up.
