Fashion should inspire, make you think, dream, and most importantly make you feel alive, which is something that heritage brand Belstaff seems to do with ease. There is something so cool, yet elegant about Belstaff that gets me every time, whether it’s the timeless, classic designs, the idea of a fearless explorer being a fashionista or the fact that they do love a neutral colour palette, but once again I fell in love with everything I saw at the spring/summer 2016 presentation during London Fashion Week.
Beauty of Power was the premise of the collection, with the power of the sea being the greatest inspiration, which came through in the relaxed silhouettes, as well as the use of textures, I fell hard for a quilted bomber that resembled the lines left in the sand by the tide, and the range of colours from sky to marine blues to textural whites and rich hues of sandy-beige, as well as the dreamiest faded khaki colour.
This collection is all about separates, including cotton flared trousers, skinny jeans, lightweight knitwear, linen shirts, as well as delicate tiered silk-georgette dresses, that were all teamed with the most beautiful range of outerwear, from windbreaker jackets to light silk spring coats, edgy bombers and the classic Belstaff leather jackets.
It’s always hard to pick a favourite, especially when you wish your whole wardrobe was filled with beautifully constructed Belstaff pieces, but I think it has to come down to the striped jacket accented with leather trims and oversized pockets, seriously how beautiful is that, as well as the dark seaweed green military-inspired leather jacket and those white Chelsea ankle boots.
