The reason I go to London Fashion Week is to discover emerging talent and Mumbai-born, London-based sisters Nikita and Tina Sutradhar, behind fashion label Miuniku are designers to watch out for. For SS16, the sisters put on a space-age presentation, I was in love with the holographic shadows that the pleated skirts and boxy shaped jackets were creating. It kind of a had a futuristic vibe mixed in with a little retro ‘before the digital age’ elements coming through in the details with analog elements such as cassette tapes, volume buttons and vinyl records inspiring the circular details since on the pockets.
I loved the colour palette of the collection, primary red and blue, mixed in with black, pastel hues and white, for a modern, contemporary feel, which worked well with the textures of the collection that included crushed velvet, pleated fabrics, mesh, satin, and ribbed knits. For me, the highlights had to be the wrap around skirts – so divine, I love the colour mix of blue and red with a yellow pop of colour.
