What makes up your go-to uniform?
For me, at the moment, my go-to look has to be ripped jeans, a cosy knit layered over a denim shirt, a crossbody bag, and ankle boots. I think it has something to do with this crappy weather, it has been scrambling my brain that I can’t think what to wear, so I settle for my current go-to uniform on rotation. It all started when I got these boyfriend fit jeans from Next, I’m obsessed with how comfortable they are on. These are my first denim piece from Next and I’ve been impressed with the fit that I think I need to check out the other styles. These beauties have just the right amount of rippage for me and I love the lighter wash, especially when teamed with a denim shirt, and lots of different blue hues, which is also another current obsession, I can’t get enough of blue.
In winter sometimes the trends can get sidetracked and replaced for comfort, this uniform look is all about comfort, probably so much so that you guys don’t think it is worthy of a style post, but this here is my favourite look especially when off to lunch, to wander around Nottinghill or to have a good old natter with a close friend. Being comfortable is my biggest style tip, as you can generally dress up most looks, and for my uniform, it’s about adding a cute pair of boots, I love these sale beauties from Asos the red works perfectly with the blue, a rocking pair of frames, as well as a statement bag, and I love that my leopard print Lulu Guinness always adds a touch of style and it can fit tons in for a smaller bag.
To spice up my uniform, it’s the small details that change, from my glasses to my watch. I’m loving these new red frames that I picked out from Lensway, not only were they under £50 they also came with a digital filter on them, so they help when I’m chained to my desk answering emails or when I’m editing images, as well as when I’m watching TV. I have, to be honest, I was a little skeptical about how much a blue filter would help, but I have noticed that my eyes don’t get as tired after a long day in front of the computer. Apparently, digital eye burn can cause eyestrain, dry eyes, blurred vision, headaches, neck, shoulder and back pain, and my BlueReflect lenses reflect and filter blue light emitted by digital devices and artificial lights. I’m quite good at taking breaks but it is pretty cool that my glasses can help relieve some of the stress on my eyes and body, as be truthful we aren’t going to stop using our digital devices are we!!!
The watch I’m wearing is a new brand Dial Watches and they’ve teamed up with a paper art illustrator Sarah Dennis to produce one of the most beautiful watches – the butterfly is actually made from laser cut paper. I love it when fashion and art combines and this watch, which also comes with a cream strap, so you can transform your wrist to match your look, marries the two perfectly. Also, can we just gush a little over the vintage finish to the gold face? I do love it when gold is understated and not too shiny.
It’s the small details that really stop my uniform look getting a little stale – but here’s hoping to better weather so I can branch out a little!!!
