For me, outfits, especially during London Fashion Week, are a time to play a part, stay true to my style, but still have a little fun. For day 1, I was totally channeling the girlies in John Hughes 80s flicks, like Deb and Hilly in Weird Science, FYI, great film if you haven’t seen it – do, now. Seriously, why you still reading this find it on Netflix or something!!!
OK, so for all you guys that have seen it, this is my 80s style look, complete with over-the-top side ponytail – thank you The Apartment and Priv, funky tights, metallic accessories, and studded boots, which you might not believe me but they are less than £35, serious bargain and are so comfortable. I was running between shows all day and they didn’t hurt my feet once. These beauties are going to be my go-to boot for the coming months, they work with skirts, dresses, and any kind of denim you love. I did wonder whether I had too many boots, then I laughed, as come on, can you really have too many boots?
I couldn’t find the ultimate shoulder padded oversized blazer that I wanted to complete this 80s style look, but I think this gorgeous coat from La Redoute’s R Studio did the trick, especially as I sized up to make it a little bigger than it should be. Also, I totally fell in love with the dreamy colour, not quite red, not quite rust, somewhere in between, I just thought it was a little different, and I love a statement coat.
Finishing off my look is this cute Matalan ‘Dreamer’ slogan jumper, it was only £16 and it is super cosy on. Sorry online shoppers it seems to be out of stock on Matalan’s website but I did see it in-store last week, so snap it up quick. For my skirt I went for this Zara sale bargain, I love the metallic fleck to the pleats, subtle and fun, and works well with the studded boots and silver camera bag from Next, which I customised with a few stickers I picked up in Typo as they reminded me of the Boyarde stickers, but cheaper. Final piece, fun Mickey Mouse tights that I picked up in Primark, aren’t they cute, not bad for £3.
