Two of the most important items in any home when it comes to furniture has to be a bed and a sofa, as come on, if you aren’t in bed you are generally on the sofa when at home, am I right. But have you noticed that when it comes to sofas and armchairs things can be a little on the dull and boring side, yeah we all like brown leather and neutral fabrics, but wouldn’t it be nice to have a pop of colour, well that’s where the Joules x DFS collaboration comes in nicely.
The Joules x DFS collection is filled with colourful twists on classic pieces, which are so Joules, there’s a coastal vibe, a country flavour and a number of colour-inspired sofas, armchairs and footstools, featuring the brand’s distinctive hand-drawn floral prints and its attention to detail, let me just say look closely at the buttons some have cute animals on them and the feet have been colour-dipped pink. Seriously cute.
For me, the highlight has to be the ‘Windsor’ chesterfield, elegant and timeless, while adding a pop of colour to any room. I love it in the yellow, I have my eye on the armchair and large footstool, which could easily double as a coffee table. As well as the yellow, which again is so dreamy, this range also comes in pink and navy, and trust me to touch it has a velvet feel, super lovely and luxurious.
Windsor: 3-seater sofa, 4-seater sofa, cuddler sofa, armchair, storage footstool, compact footstool, and large footstool in velvet or cotton, available in yellow, pink, purple, mushroom, charcoal, and navy.
DFS Design Director Philip Watkin said: “Joules’ distinct design identity was an exciting invitation for us to play with colours, prints, and hidden details. Each piece in the range is designed to provoke a smile, reawaken a room and give any space a breath of fresh air. All whilst staying true to the British heritage and quality DFS and Joules are both known for.”
If you are a fan of Joules stripes and the timeless coastal trend, you need to look at the ‘Burnham’ corner sofa, which also comes with an accompanying armchair and footstool, I love the idea of the darker contrasting colours of the armchair next to the subtle stripes of the sofa. Also, you can see that there are gorgeous florals on the sofa cushions, which you can display or reverse for full stripes. I do like the nautical meets florals vibes though.
Burnham: corner sofa, 3-seater sofa, 4-seater sofa, cuddler sofa, armchair, storage footstool, compact footstool, and large footstool, available in various stripe fabrics and colours
For a quirky take on the heritage and country theme, there is the ‘Ilkley’ with its tweed and partridge print with contrasting colour piping. I’m not sure if I’m a fan of having both the sofa and armchair, but I think the chair would be a great addition next to an open fire alongside a leather sofa.
Ilkley: 3-seater sofa, 4-seater sofa, cuddler sofa, armchair, and footstool, available in Heritage Tweed and Peter Partridge Velvet in 3 colours inspired by Joules heritage colours
A lover of Joules’ amazing hand-drawn florals you need to check out the ‘Cambridge’ for a bold injection of print and colour into your living room. Like with the other pieces, if you want a change from the gorgeous florals, simply turn the seat cushions over to reveal the block colour. I love this style’s sofa it has a classic design with a fun touch with the florals, just imagine the blue style teamed with the grey floral chair, so dreamy and it is super comfortable to sit on.
Cambridge: 4-seater sofa, 3-seater sofa, 2-seater sofa, cuddler sofa, armchair, and footstool in plain and floral velvet or cotton, available in yellow, pink, purple, mushroom, charcoal, and navy.
The Joules x DFS collection launches at the end of November and the sofas start from £998.
