There’s something about blossom, the perfumed scent in the air, the fluffiness of the petals, the vibrant hues, and how with each gust of wind the petals swirl in the most beautiful way. There’s a joy about watching blossom fall, and being able to visit the amazing Brodgale Collections, home to more than 4,000 varieties of fruit, including apples, cherries and plums, which translates into blossom heaven, was such a treat seeing all the different hues of blossom, as well as to shoot one of my favourite looks.
As soon as you step into the orchards at Brodgale Collections there is a sense of calm, until the loud crow scarer takes you by surprise, I was with my friend Sylvia and we jumped on more than one occasion, even though we were warned that it was going to happen. But even the loud bangs couldn’t spoil how perfect this place is, the various scents in the air as you pass between fields of different varieties of fruit. I don’t think I’ve seen so many fruit trees before and I can only imagine how beautiful it will look when they are all heavy with apples, plums and pears.
I got a year pass, so expect future shoots to come from here, plus they put on great events throughout the year, I’ve got my eye on the Cherry Fair in July, the Cider Festival in August, Pear Day in September, and the Apple Festival in October. The place also has a cute farm shop, which I wish was a little closer as was so lovely, as well as a courtyard cafe that looked yummy, just wish we hadn’t come so late – but hey, that’s why I have to return!
