Entitled La Belle et la Bete, Georgina Hardinge’s debut London Fashion Week show took inspiration from her muse Jean Cocteau, the French poet, for her spring/summer 2011 collection. The flirtatious and romantic pieces utilised chiffon, silk, sheer mesh panels and digi print in a palette largely muted with neutral and grey tones against black, with hints of yellow.

Alongside the romantic textured cocktail dresses were maxi dresses with a digital print which echo the sculptures of the Versailles in a smoky grey and architectural structured dresses to the hips and bodices which added an edgy feel to the very feminine collection.

The yellow finale gown was one of the most beautiful dresses I have seen, a full-length Grecian style gown with a gorgeous draped train and woven ruffle detailing to the shoulders with a coordinated headband. Simply stunning and a perfect end to a great debut collection in London.
