Inspired by vintage robots, sail making, copper and rust this is a gorgeous-yet-playful collection from Charlotte Taylor for spring/summer 2011. Entitled An Island Invasion, Charlotte’s second collection is quirky and elegant, teaming different textures with robot prints, meccano jewellery and beautiful fluid lines.

Last season we had penguin print, for the SS11 line there is an more industrial-inspired feel, with the stand-out items for me being anything with a robot print on it. It wasn’t just about the print but also the gorgeous burnt yellow colour.
For the 12-looks we had a variety of dress styles from long-sleeve and knee-length to sleeves with draping falling below the bust-line, and a shift mini with draping detailing to the hip to enhance the curve silhouette. Each style fresh, fun and completely wearable. I must admit I am hoping that this print is available as a t-shirt as I have to have it *not sure I can work the dress*, but teamed with blue jeans it will look amazing.

The collection also featured a number of shorts, definitely a trend staying next season, with the blue velvet high-waisted hot pants being one of my favourite pieces, I also loved the yellow robot-print romper suit.
