I have been super excited about seeing the Osman show since my gorgeous textured invitation turned up on my desk, and the texture of the invite seem to continue in the spring/summer collection at Somerset House.
This was a very popular show and tempers got a little frayed before it started, late of course, due to it being oversubscribed, late people and those who felt they didn’t need to RSVP and just turn up on the day. I really felt for the PR working this event. Luckily I was sat nicely in row 3 watching the drama unfold, as it got so crazy that people were sitting down by the side of the catwalk like they were in infant school, queue shouting for them to get out of the photographers shots and the show was ready to begin.

The collection itself fused many different textures from soft patent leather and woven fabrics to lightweight silks and cotton, which were sculpted into Osman’s signature architectural style. There were gorgeous sculpted organic denim shift dresses, flared trousers, asymmetric dresses, sleeveless trench coats cut to the hip at the front and curved hem long at the back, teamed with minimal styling.
The colour scheme was muted with patent cream, navy and tan contrasted nicely against pops of honeysuckle pink, yellow and apple green.

This isn’t one of my favourite collections I have seen over the past two days but there are some stand out items that I love. The dresses with a half pleated skirt attached to the hip on one side, they just worked so well down the runway, the tan cap-sleeved shift dress that opened the show, as well as the tailored fluid circular drop hem as seen on the top image.
I also adore the honeysuckle pink items and once again the yellow floor-sweeping dress takes it for me, like it did at the Maria Grachvogel show. I think we will be seeing a lot of yellow in stores next spring and summer.
