Being a Fashion Fringe winner I knew that Corrie Nielsen’s autumn/winter collection was going to be special, but it was more than that, it was a showstopper.
Entitled, ‘A Winter’s Melodie’, it was full of dramatic silhouettes, historical romance and a dark colour palette. Taking inspiration from the Elizabethan period, with structured shape, volume and drapery, my favourite items were very dark princess.
There was a theatrical vibe to the show, which passed by so quickly, and you could tell there were influences from her time spent working for Vivienne Westwood. I loved the majestic, flamboyant pieces but for me it was the daywear looks infused with influences from 1940s-50s French Haute Couture, with the cinched in waists, dramatic shoulders, knee-length pencil skirts and pleated draped wool dresses which I loved.
What I couldn’t believe is that this was her first solo catwalk show – completely and utterly divine.
