I suppose it isn’t that surprising that Lily Allen and her sister, Sarah Owen, are turning their love of fashion from purely vintage store owners to designers. What is surprising is how much I like it.
I am actually a big fan of their Covent Garden store, Lucy in Disguise, and I loving theses sketches of the pre-fall 18-piece collection, which is all vintage-inspired and looks gorgeous. Revolving mainly around dresses, this ready-to-wear collection has something for everyone from Forties-style rayon crepe tea dresses to fifties prom dresses, to colourful maxis and even a cute-but-skimpy sailor-inspired playsuit.
My favourite piece has to be this ombre maxi dress, simply stunning, and I can totally see this being a huge hit with Lily’s celeb pals, as will this black floor-skimming gown with flower appliqués.
Of course, the line has already been snapped up here in the UK at Harvey Nichols, known for their celebrity lines they were the first store to pick up Dannii Minogue’s label. The collection will also be sold at Shopbop.com in America, Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, David Jones in Australia, Le Bon Marché in France, and Freeshop in Japan; oh and I nearly forgot of course Lucy in Disguise will also stock the pieces in-store and online. Quite an impressive line-up for a debut line.
The only thing I am a little disappointed on is the price range, $175 to $630 aka £95 and £350, is a little pricey for me. But I am sure come June when the collection launches I will be joining the inevitable stampede!!
