Charity Pugs: Designers Make-Over Steiff Pooches

Mugler Pug

I do love a designer-charity initiative but I have been getting a little bored of all the t-shirts and totes of late, well it seems so has luxury online Italian retailer Luisa Via Roma as they’ve ask a number of top fashion designers to make-over one-of-a-kind Steiff pugs – yep furry pooches, not real of course the teddy kind.

There are 20 fashionable pugs designed from everyone from Versace to Valentino, to LFW favourites Mary Katrantzou and David Koma, and all have all been given very distinct styles. The Mugler Pug is chic and punky in a zombie crystal mask and pearl corset, Mary Katrantzou made her pug a floral bouquet, one of my red carpet favs Giambattista Valli brought his signature couture style, and one of the brightest pooches is the Blumarine Pug dressed in the quirky brands three-dimensional floral print tutu and headgear – so lovely.

Each ‘Pug Dogs for Happy Kids’ will be auctioned off on eBay with the aim to raise as much money as possible for children’s charity UNICEF for their Project ARISE campaign, which helps to reintegrate street children from Bangladesh into society, educating them and finding them homes. Seriously great project, so if you do have the money to bid on these cuties do, bidding has already started on the Balmain, Mary Katrantzou, and Valetino pugs, with the other furry pooches hitting the auction site over the next few weeks.

Check out all the pugs at  Luisa Via Roma – which one is your favourite?
